MAJIS Observations Types#

The MAJIS Observations List document contains the definition and description of all MAJIS observation types that can be planned during the JUICE mission. MAJIS observations types definitions are also available from the JSOC Uplink Core System. However there is currently no central interface to manage MAJIS observation types. The data model is actually not fully defined yet.

Both sources have been put together as MOS Requirement GitLab issues, labelled Observation Type. It is used as reference to derive and implement corresponding GFINDER Opportunity Definition File (ODF) file(s). It is also used to derive and generate operational files (eg: MAPPS ODF, ITL and PTR) required by the JUICE SOC.

GFINDER provides a one-to-one match between observation types defined in the “MAJIS Observations List” document and JSOC Uplink Core System, and GFINDER ODF files in the Data Store, through the jsoc_observation_mnemonic. See also Observation Types Index File. Examples of MAJIS observations type implementation and opportunity analysis notebooks can be found in Observation Types.

Below is an example of MAJIS observation definition on GitLab, which can be discussed and whose the status can be tracked.

Note

Additional Jupiter rings observations types are defined in the MAJIS Rings Campaign document.
